Nintendo Direct Summary 02.13.2019: the Mario perspective

Here's a summary of today's Nintendo Direct for 02.13.2019 from a Super Mario perspective.

Leading off the Direct was the announcement of Super Mario Maker 2 for the Nintendo Switch. This is a sequel of the Wii U game that appears to borrow heavily from its predecessor. There is an updated interface and also some new elements, mainly from Super Mario 3D World - which will be a new style, but in a sidescrolling manner. There is Cat Mario, clear pipes, and even Piranha Creepers! Super Mario Maker 2 will be coming out in June 2019.

Version 3.0 update will be coming this spring for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. More details to be announced.
A new free DLC for the Switch version of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker featuring a co-op mode will be released today in the eShop. There will also be paid DLC which features 18 new challenges and 5 new courses - also available today.
Additional details were provided for Yoshi's Crafted World, there will be "costumes" for Yoshi, they'll effectively work as a power-up that provide as added protection, similar to how a mushroom gives Mario ability to "take another hit". There are 180 costumes in all, and they can be purchased in-game using coins.

Yoshi can also ride a variety of vehicles/planes for a unique style of gameplay. A free demo of the first level of this game will be available today the eShop.

Finally at the end of the Direct, there will be an enhanced port of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening coming in 2019, there is also a side scrolling section with Goombas as well!
There were no updates provided for Luigi's Mansion 3 in this Nintendo Direct, it was announced earlier that the game will be coming in 2019, so we should see more in the coming months.
