Posted on June 22, 2002 @ 8:36 PM EDT by: Hairball
Nintendo has announced that they will not be holding a Space World show in Japan this year. In the past, there is a show featuring Nintendo products held every year in Japan, that is open to the public. Instead, they will be holding smaller shows in Japan so that people can get a chance to play the latest games.

There are some demo pics of a racing game, an Ice Hockey game and a FPS using Pseudo-3D sprites to make it look more 3D as character/interactive models, but the environments will be 3D. It looks interesting, but they are a bit blocky at the moment, and they have to get a good framerate too...

Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata has been commenting on Nintendo finally it's hardware business and going to games only, like Sega did. At the moment it seems like speculation, but read the article for more information.

Mr Iwata said "We're reaching the limits of how far we can appeal to consumers by boosting the machine's performance or providing more compelling graphics and sound," .... "I feel like a chef cooking for a king who's full."

GBA: Super Mario Universe
Posted on June 9, 2002 @ 1:22 PM EDT by: Hairball
It seems as though that there's going to be a new Mario game coming out for the Game Boy Advance after all, and it isn't a port. Nintendojo has a short movie with footage from this possible game, currently titled "Super Mario Universe".

It looks like Paper Mario for the N64, but it plays in 2D, like sidescroller... Nintendojo also says they aren't sure if it's legitimate or not, so it's hard to determine at the moment.
