Nintendo Switch has sold 14 million units in 10 months exceeding Wii U
Nintendo has released their quarterly results for Q4 2017 ending Dec 31, along with it was an updated worldwide sales report.
The Nintendo Switch has sold 14.86 million units since launch in March, and in 10 months it has sold more units than the Wii U did in its entire lifetime. The Wii U was released in 2012 and sold only 13.56 million units.
On the software front, the top selling game for 2017 is Super Mario Odyssey with 9.07 million units, a staggering number considering the game was only released in late October. The second best selling game is the Wii U port of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which sold 7.33 million units.
Overall, it was a very successful year for Nintendo, a remarkable comeback after a poor console cycle in the previous generation.
